Digital compaction sensor
The ASC sensor is used e.g. in vibratory rollers to determine the soil compaction during rolling. A built-in acceleration sensor measures the reaction of the drum. A micro-controller calculates the vibration frequency, the compaction value, the jump value and the oscillation amplitude. All data calculated can be transferred via a CAN network to a display.
The compaction value increases with the compression of the ground. Weak ground areas can be detected immediately and the point where no further compaction is necessary is readily identifiable. A high quality homogeneous soil can be reached in shortest time.
The jump operation of the roller is a reaction of hard ground conditions and means stress to the machine and to the operator. With the determination of the jump value this unintentional mode of operation can be avoided easily.
